Flatness and Parallelism are not Synonyms appeared in the December 2007 issue of Tooling and Production magazine.

"Training - Whom should we send?"appeared in the July 2007 issue of Tooling and Production magazine. This article explains how to determine your "real" leaders in the shop.

"Let's rethink circularity" appeared in the March 2006 issue of Tooling and Production magazine and deals with how circularity or "roundness" is often misinterpreted as a diametric tolerance as opposed to radial.

"Concise O.E.E. made E-A-S-Y" is the second article (of a series) explaining the simple equations used to determine Overall Equipment Effectiveness. This article was published in the December 2005 issue of Tooling and Production magazine.

"Concentricity: Distance x 2" appeared in the January 2006 issue of Tooling and Production magazine and explains the often misinterpreted DIAMETRIC tolerance of Concentricity.

"Correct part rotation can produce "Perfect Vectors" explains how DCC CMM Direction Vectors can be as easy as counting to one. This article appeared in the May 2005 issue of Tooling and Production magazine.

Same Problem; Different Resolution, an article concerning gage resolution in shop-floor applications, appears in the March 2005 issue of Modern Machine Shop.

"The inch rules - Why the metric system will never replace decimal inch" appeared in the August 2001 issue of Tooling and Production magazine. This explains why Metric is perfect in a Math classroom but Inch is superior on the shop floor.

"Uncertainty is a real world issue" was featured in the January 2002 quality preview of Tooling and Production magazine. This story exaplains how the 6 elements of every measurement effect the results obtained by the measurement system. The article was also selected for posting on the isixsigma website.

Making the most of gage management software for ISO/QS9000 was published by Modern Machine Shop in 2002. This brief article helps you select the gage management software that will serve as the cornerstone for your facility's quality system.

Understanding errors in hand-held instruments appeared in a 2003 issue of Modern Machine Shop and explains how some instruments have errors actually built right in them... believe it or not.

"Overall Equipment Effectiveness" appeared in the November 2002 and September 2004 issues of Tooling and Production magazine.

"Vectors- CNC CMMs push the envelope" was selected to appear in the February 2003 issue of Tooling and Production magazine. This explains the concept of DCC CMM direction vectors on a $5 calculator.

"Thermal Effects in the real world" ran in the October 2004 issue of Tooling and Production. This article explains the Algebra used to calculate thermal expansion.

"Exposing the Myth of True Position" was published by Tooling and Production also, and explains the best kept secrets of positional tolerances.

"Bonus Tolerancing: a True Balancing act" the follow up to "Exposing the Myth" was published in the February 2005 issue of Tooling and Production.

CMM Monthly magazine was a very good publication that unfortunately only released 2 issues. I wrote a column titled "As Good as It gets" which explained case studies using sample CMM measurments and Jr. High level statistics to calculate the certainty of the CMM in different applications. To receive the entire series and/or Pdf versions on the 2 issues of CMM Monthly magazine e-mail me.

In the (not too distant) future, a follow up article concerning CMM Direction Vectors is slated for a future issue of Tooling and Production. Also, I am currently working with Nelson Publishing on a series of articles concerning G,D,& T and CMMs. This series would serve as a follow up to "Exposing the Myth of True Position" and "Bonus Tolerancing: a True Balancing act".
